APMCM’s Notice on Sincerely Soliciting the Problems from the Society Permanently

Ya Tai Sai [2019] No. 04

Experts, Teachers and Students from Institutions of Higher Learning and Social Persons,

APMCM is held annually, and the Ninth APMCM will be held this year. For this Contest, the application deadline is 12:00 at noon, November 27, 2019. The period of the Contest is from November 28, 2019 to December 2, 2019. Good problems are one of the key to the success of this Contest.

2019 APMCM (hereinafter referred to as Contest) is a discipline contest of university students in Asian-Pacific Region hosted by Beijing Institute of Image Graphics and organized by School of Mathematics. The Contest is organized by the Organizing Committee of Asia and Pacific Mathematical Contest in Modeling. To further expand the problem setting thinking, search the problem materials and improve the contest level, all experts, teachers and students and social persons who care for the problem setting of this Contest, and can provide the problems or problem materials are welcomed to provide the problems for this Contest.

Source of problem materials:

According to the contest regulations, the problems are properly simplified and processed practical problems in the engineering technology, social life and economic management and other aspects generally. If you encounter any difficult-to-solve mathematical modeling problems or any problems which have not been well solved in the teaching, scientific research and management, please classify them and send them to us. The problems can be condensed into the mathematical modeling and can be solved by mathematical tool.

Requirements for contest materials:

The problem background, reference resource, data (the data source may be pointed out, and the data may be searched by the students), and several problems which may be solved by mathematical model may be included. The problems may be Chinese or English, and English is preferred.

The problem only requires that the participant has studied the mathematics course of regular institutions of higher learning, and the participant is not required to master the in-depth professional knowledge in advance. Besides, a great margin is left so that the participants (2-3 students form a team) can give full play to their intelligence and wisdom and creation spirit within four days. Since the participants are allowed to consult various kinds of data (including internet), the problems should not have any direct answers in the literature published in public.

Submission of problem materials:

They are submitted to the mailbox of the Organizing Committee of the Contest: apmcm@mathor.com; please specify unit, name, telephone and other information in the body of the mail, for the purpose of contact. At the same time, to ensure the fairness of the Contest, the applicant should keep confidential relevant materials. It is not allowed to exchange any content related to the materials with others. Besides, it is not allowed to divulge the contents of the problem in any form.

Rewards:

After the submitted problem materials pass the review by the experts of the Organizing Committee, they will be stored in the APMCM problem library and a certain amount of rewards will be given. If the problem is adopted in the Contest, the certificate will be provided and proper rewards will be given once more.

Descriptions about authorization:

If the problem is selected and enters the problem library, the problem setter agrees to transfer the copyright of the problem to the Organizing Committee of Asia and Pacific Mathematical Contest in Modeling and its host free of charge.

All experts, teachers and students and social persons who care for the problem setting of this Contest, and can provide the problems or problem materials are welcomed to provide the problems for this Contest.
