Successful Holding of the Second Mathematical Modeling Teaching and Training Seminar and the Seventh APMCM Prize-giving Ceremony in 2018
On April 27, 2018, the “Second Mathematical Modeling Teaching and Training Seminar and the Seventh APMCM Prize-giving Ceremony in 2018” hosted by Hebei Field Statistics Society and Mathematician and organized by Yanshan University were successfully held in Yanshan University.
Zhao Yongsheng, President of Yanshan University; Liu Baoxiang, Vice Chairman of the Society and Director of College of Science of North China University of Science and Technology; Wang Leizhen, Party Branch Secretary of the Society, Vice Chairman, and Vice President of Northeastern University at Qinhuangdao; Yang Aimin, Secretary-General of the Society and Professor of North China University of Science and Technology and the like attended the opening ceremony. Professor Liu Chunfeng, State-level Famous Teacher of “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, and Head Coach of Modeling of North China University of Science and Technology from 1997 to 2017; Li Lei, Director of College of Science of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications; Zhu Jiaming, Associate Professor of Anhui University of Finance and Economics; Zhou Bingchang, Associate Professor of Northwestern Polytechnical University; Teacher Zhang Yin, Head Coach of Mathematical Modeling of Yanshan University, attended the meeting and gave a speech. By centering around the mathematical modeling teaching and training, the deep discussion was carried out, the mathematical modeling teachers and amateurs from 62 institutions of higher learning nationwide participated and the atmosphere at the seminar site was warm.
On April 28, the seminar was held in the Lecture Hall, Teaching Building II, Eastern Campus, Yanshan University.

Liu Baoxiang, Vice Chairman of the Society and Director of College of Science of North China University of Science and Technology made a speech.
At first, on behalf of Hebei Field Statistics Society, Liu Baoxiang, Chairman, offered congratulations on the meeting. He reviewed the 2017 APMCM. The Contest has become an influential basic subject and application technology event in Asian-Pacific Region. Starting from the science and engineering problems in the practical field, the Contest simplifies and concludes the problems, and raises challenges to the university students, which establishes a platform for the students and is an example for close combination between mathematics discipline, field statistics and other disciplines and industries, and service for society.
Afterwards, the prize-giving in the summary conference of 2017 APMCM was carried out. The outstanding prize, the first prize, the second prize, the third prize, excellent instructor prize and excellent organizational unit prize were given. In this Contest, 4 teams obtained the outstanding prize, 122 teams obtained the first prize, 377 teams obtained the second prize, 639 teams obtained the third prize, 20 units obtained the excellent organizational unit prize, and 20 instructors obtained the excellent instructor prize.
Professor Li Lei, Director of College of Science of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, gave the prize to the students who obtained the outstanding prize.
Zhang Lina, Vice Chairman of the Society and Director of College of Science of Hebei Agricultural University, gave the prize to the students who obtained the outstanding prize.
Associate Professor Zhu Jiaming, Director of Mathematical Modeling Laboratory of Anhui University of Finance and Economics, gave the prize to the students who obtained the outstanding prize.
Zhou Bingchang, Associate Professor of Northwestern Polytechnical University, gave the prize to the students who obtained the outstanding prize.
Professor Liu Baoxiang, Chairman of Seminar and Director of College of Science of North China University of Science and Technology, gave the prize to the units that obtained the excellent organizational unit prize.
The second mathematical modeling teaching and training seminar was officially started. This seminar invited 4 well-known experts and scholars in the industry to make a keynote speech.
At first, Professor Li Lei, Director of College of Science of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, gave a speech on the Preparation and Organizational Method for Campus Contest of Mathematical Modeling.
Afterwards, Associate Professor Zhu Jiaming, Director of Mathematical Modeling Laboratory of Anhui University of Finance and Economics, gave a speech on the Subsequent Research on Mathematical Modeling Contest.
On the afternoon of April 28, the second mathematical modeling teaching and training seminar was continued. Zhou Bingchang, Associate Professor of Northwestern Polytechnical University, gave a speech on the Preparation and Organizational Method for Campus Contest of Mathematical Modeling and Result Exhibition of Mathematical Modeling Teaching.
Finally, Teacher Zhang Yin, Head Coach of Mathematical Modeling of Yanshan University , gave a speech on the Exploration into Cultivation Mode of Engineering Innovation Talents with Mathematical Modeling Contest as Starting Point.
At the second mathematical modeling teaching and training seminar, the wonderful speeches by 4 experts aroused the research interest and enthusiasm of all participants. After the speech, the experts accepted the questions raised by the representatives, and they deeply discussed the professional problems.
